BAINBRIDGE - C. Frances Rich, 83, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, in Perry.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Bainbridge with interment in Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge. Pastor Robert Baggs will officiate.
The active pallbearers will be Bob Rich, Joe Rich, Billy English, Derry Cannon, Rusty Simpson and Ben Lee.
Miss Rich was born October 22, 1919, in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Robert Lloyd Rich Sr. and Cecil Harrell Rich. She graduated from Bainbridge High School and received a B.S. in physical education from the University of Georgia. She was a U.S. Navy Waves veteran of World War II and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a retired stock broker with Goodbody and Co. in Dallas, Texas, and had lived in Santa Rosa Beach, FL, since 1990.
Miss Rich was an avid golfer. She was the Ladies Golf Amateur Champion in Georgia in 1953 and later she was the Ladies Golf Amateur Champion in Texas. She served on the Senior Women's Committee for the U.S. Golf Association, was a member of the Women's Southern Golf Association, Past President of the Georgia Women's Golf Association, and a member of the American Red Cross, and the Legionnaires. She was a member of the Santa Rosa Beach Golf Club and the Trillium Links and Lake Club in Cashiers, N.C.
Survivors include her brother, Jack G. Rich of Tallahassee, FL. She was considered to be the matriarch of her nieces and nephews, which consisted of nine nieces and nephews, 17 great-nieces and great-nephews, and six great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Southern Golf Association Scholarship Fund, c/o Helen Ferneyhaugh, 1285 Cedar Gate Road, Monroe, VA 34574-2901 or to First Presbyterian Church 200 E. Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819.

A wedding of much social interest to the friends of both parties throughout the State, occurred in Thomasville on last Thursday night, when Miss Cecil Harrell was married to Mr. Lloyd Rich. This was a runaway marriage, the couple being motored to Thomasville by a friend. Immediately after the ceremony the bride and groom left for various points in Georgia for a several days honeymoon trip.
The bride is the beautiful and attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Harrell, who was one of the most popular young ladies in the younger society set in Bainbridge, groom is prominent in social and business circles and is connected with Rich Auto Supply Co.
