- At a Court continued and held by adjournment on the third
day of March in the year one thousand Seven hun-
dred and ninety five, for Newberry County at the Courthouse
of Said County, the Last Will & Testament of William Gilreath
Decd was duly Executed in Open Court by the oath of Charles Cren-
shaw a Subscribing Witness thereto and Ordered to be Recorded
In the Name of God Amen, I William Gilreath of Newberry County
in South Carolina being being [sic] sick and weak in Body but of
Perfect sence and Memory thanks be to God and on consideration
that Life is uncertain do make and Ordain this my Last Will
And Testament (Viz) Recommend my soul into the hands of god
and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be Buried at the
Discretion of my Executors as to my Worldly Estate I give de-
mise bequeath and Dispose of the same in the following ma-
nner (Viz) Imprimises It is my will that my Beloved wife Mary
Gilreath have all my Household furniture &c During her na-
tural life Except two feather Beds &c at her Death it is my desire
that her Dower be divided Between my son Jesse and my Daughter
Mary. Item. I give nothing to my son John, my son William, my
son Alexander, and my daughter Sarah Thompsons heirs by reason
I have Given them their parts formerly; Item. I give unto my son
George my waggon and hind Gears and a Rifle Gunn also
a bay Horse by the name of York; Item; It is my will that
a negro Boy by the name of Harry be returned to James Hall
and what is given in lieu of him I give to my son Jesse I also give
him Ten Pounds Sterling due from James Hall I also give to
my son Jesse one feather Bed and furniture also all my plan-
tation and Shop Tools also two Horses; Item; I give unto my Da-
ughter Mary one feather Bed and furniture also a Horse.
Item; I give unto my Daughter Nansey Turner one third part of the
Price that is got for four Hundred Acres of Land in Wilk[e]s County,
North Carolina on the Crab fork; Item; It is my will & desire
that my Lands on the Crab fork in Wilk[e]s County, North Carolina
be Sold and one third of the price to be for my son Jesse & the
other third to my son George also all my Stock of Cattle & Hoggs
and all my other Estate of what kind soever be sold at Publick
Sale and the money so arising after all my Just Debts be paid
I give to my Wife Mary Gilreath. Lastly I appoint my loving
Wife Mary Gilreath, my son George Gilreath and my sons
Jesse Gilreath to Execute this my Last Will and Testament
and do hereby Invest them with the Authority and Power to Sell &
Convey the above mentioned Lands mentioned to be sold and
do hereby Disannul Every former Will and Testment, confirm-
ing this to be my Last Will. In Witness whereof I have hereunto
Set my hand and Seal this 2d day of October 1794. Signed Sealed
