[Marcus Leander and Thenia Lavenia Hendren Gilreath were originally buried at a cemetery known as "the Baptist Cemetery," which was located at the corner of 6th and J Streets in North Wilkesboro. At some point after 1945, the cemetery became unkempt and the city decided to take it over. They renamed it the North Wilkesboro City Cemetery.
After 1945, the bodies of Marcus Leander and Thenia Lavenia Hendren Gilreath were presumably moved north of town to the Mountlawn Memorial Park Cemetery (which opened in 1945). There is no record of the transfer, but their grave markers are in place only at Mountlawn, where their children are also buried.]
