  • Notes
    • It is not proven that Daniel and Sarah Vannoy are the parents of Susan Vannoy. This is a possibility, but further research is needed.
    • (Research):
He is listed for poll tax in the tax lists of Surry County from 1771 through 1775. On October 2, 1779 in Wilkes County, he married Sarah Hickerson. The state census of Wilkes County in 1787 and the Federal Census of Wilkes County in 1790 seem to indicate that they had two sons and one daughter. They also owned one slave.

Daniel was granted land on South Beaver Creek on New River in Ashe County in October 1782. He settled in Beaver Creek. The camp at Beaver Creek was a land mark in 1778 when Ben Cleveland entered the property adjoining it.

Another possible child of Daniel and Sarah is Susan Vannoy (abt 1803-about 1883), who married on Nov 21, 1882 in Wilkes County to George McNeil (May 17, 1802- April 21, 1878), born in Wilkes county to James and Mary Shepherd McNeil. George and Susan reared a family of eight children in the Millers Creek section of Wilkes County. They are buried in the McNeil-Faw-Riggs Family Cemetery on the east side of Highway NC16 about a mile and a half north of Millers Creek.
